We have lost our beloved Trinity

Trinity, our wonderful half-draft PMU gelding, was only one and a half years old when he died on December 8, 2008.  He came to New Hope in December 2007 with his mother, Destiny, a PMU mare who had stood in the premarin production barn for about eight years.  Trinity was so traumatized when they arrived that we couldn't touch him for weeks and he had a hard time around other people for months.  He eventually became so trusting that he would do anything we asked, including standing still while we rolled a huge ball under his tummy.  He would lunge in a perfect circle at an even gait, and loved learning to sidepass.  He also loved a good scratching.

Rest in peace, little guy, and know that you were loved.

Toby, a Peruvian Paso gelding adopted from Conquistador Equine Rescue in 2006 by BJ McIlvain of Cave Creek, AZ, died of colic February 16, 2009.

A former show horse, he had been badly abused at some point in his life, but with loving care he came around wonderfully and lived a useful life for his last couple of years.

He will be missed by all the people who loved him -- BJ, Shirley, Barbara who visited and rode him faithfully twice a week, and other friends who cared about him. Toby's pasture mate, Daisy, a 2007 PMU filly brought home by New Hope, was very attached to Toby, as was pasture mate Sarah, another rescued Peruvian Paso.

Toby's vet, Dr. Jim Merrill, tried hard to save him, but it wasn't to be and he died at the home where he had been given so much.  Rest in peace, Toby.
