There are two new arrivals at New Hope. These two PMU Canadian Pinto babies, just four months old, faced an uncertain future when they were brought to an auction in Missouri in September. Working with a friend and supporter, we brought the foals home on October 6, 2008. The weanlings, a filly and a colt, are being loved, brushed and cared for at the New Hope facility in Star Valley, AZ. Each of these very special and curious babies will be socialized and gently trained to be polite and well-mannered while waiting to be adopted by their forever homes.  We will continue their story as they grow.  10/08

Not too sure about these guys
Well... maybe
Finally home...
Zzzzzzz
Is dinner ready?

Socialization is important to their development, and the babies have had lots of visitors to brush them, hug them and feed them carrots and apples.  10/08

Remy and Parfait have been de-wormed, have had their feet trimmed and have been examined and vaccinated by our vet, who has pronounced them to be healthy and well adjusted.  They are allowed to run free on two acres for a part of each day, apart from the other horses, to exercise their growing bones and minds.

Remy has discovered the tire in the paddock. He never tires of shaking the tire, throwing it up in the air and watching with great interest as it rolls down the hill.   Everything goes in this guy's mouth--lead ropes, halters, he thinks the world is his toy.  11/08

Parfait is quieter and very sweet.  She is the first to come for attention and loves to stand to be brushed.  She is a curious girl and is starting to venture away from Remy to investigate the world on her own.  11/08

Meeting Noelle

The babies are beginning integration into the herd.  A couple of the other less-threatening horses are let out into the same area, under supervision, so they can begin socializing and develop order within the herd.  11/08

Remy and Parfait have met and interacted with each horse individually and are now fully integrated into the herd.  They can give the older ones a real run for their money!  12/08
